BIO
Hi! I’m Jonelle Margallo, an ambiguous Asian with a big, goofy, and creative heart. I’m a singer, actor, and dancer by profession; costume designer, sketcher, avid traveler, aspiring clothing/accessory creator, and a lover of sweet and savory pastries by hobby.

I grew up in Mitchell, South Dakota (home of The World’s Only Corn Palace) where I was influenced by what was playing on Nickelodeon and MTV. My absolute favorite singers at the time were Whitney Houston and Janet Jackson. I would sing “The Greatest love of All” in the bathtub for hours and copy every single move that Miss Jackson did. Thus, leading to my first performance at the age of eight singing “The Greatest Love of All” in front of my whole school for our talent show. Then dancing with my brother and his friend to “Nasty Girl” in my hometown talent show held in da da daaaaaaaah, The Corn Palace. That was the start of my love for performing.

Flash forward… I attended Berklee College of Music with a degree in Vocal Performance and received a BFA in Musical Theatre at The Boston Conservatory. Shortly after, I performed all across the country in numerous regional theaters and Broadway! My favorite, most inspiring and influential shows, are West Side Story and Miss Saigon.

Traveling as much as I have, I’m so thankful for the support of my family and friends. As much as I miss my family in South Dakota, Arizona, and Nebraska, I’m so thankful for my Broadway Barkada family here in NYC. I have been a part of Broadway Barkada since 2009 to help raise various funds for The Typhoon Haiyan Relief, ARK (Advancement for Rural Kids in the Philippines) and many others through song and dance. It’s a constant reminder that no matter where or what the show, it’s all for the love.
